This is our pilot project which initially focuses on 3 community areas in Newcastle upon Tyne; Cowgate (28th most deprived in England from 32,482 neighbourhoods),Blakelaw and Kenton. The Wii Can Pilot Project is designed to engage with clients who are between the ages of 16 - 25 year old who are NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) in Newcastle upon Tyne. The Wii Can Project will be located in an Executive Suite at St James Park where we will deliver the I Can training programmes and we will assist our clients and lead them into education, employment or training through collaborative partner organisations. We will take 60 young people across Newcastle upon Tyne and take them through a structured programme of engagement, training and mentoring. As we recognise that engaging our clients who are not "mainstream" is not easy and we realise that we need to engage them by using out of the box thinking and with somewhere that they can relate to. Even though this particular project initially deals with 16 - 25 year old clients, we intend to capitalise on the success of this pilot and roll it out regionally and possibly nationally also targeting different age clients groups with different issues.
