Advertise hereI Can in the North East provides training and learning that extends far beyond conventional classroom training programmes to take young people on a journey to improve their education and career prospects.

This module is an assessment, warm up and taster module designed to assess and convince learners of the benefits of engagement by ensuring that they understand that they were ‘born to win’, that success in life is their decision, that they possess all the Qualities of Success they need and that planning and preparing to win are keys to building the better life that they deserve.

Outcomes

Successful completion of the I Can be Persuaded (non accredited in house certificate) progressing on to I Can be Successful (Award - 9 credits) and the progression on to I Can be Trained (Certificate - 6 credits) will accumulate a total of 15 credits and will earn the learners 2 levels of the City and Guilds Award and Certificate in Employability and Personal Development (7546) qualifications.

These qualifications recognise the personal development skills and the generic employability skills that help learners to seek, obtain and maintain employment. In particular, it recognises the key personal skills, qualities and attitudes which learners will have obtained, and which are required by employers across all vocational sectors. By developing learners’ confidence and skills, it also helps learners progress to further Education, Employment or Training.

Delivery Locations

We deliver our training packages in 3 ways:

  • At a Providers Location
  • At Community Venues

or

  • A Unique Experience at a Prestigious Venue

The prestigious venues and executive suites we use capture the I Can ethos of demonstrating to learners that they are valued and ensure that they feel excited and comfortable.

Use of such venues also allows the training programme to draw on real-life and real-time examples of success, to which the learners can relate.

We use appropriate venues across the North East such as: Newcastle Falcons Rugby Club.

A Flexible Approach

We have a flexible approach to working with the learners and great care is taken to ensure that the content and range of activities support qualification-based learning and the national curriculum, whilst focusing on reintegration into mainstream Education, Employment or Training. We work with groups of between six to eight young people; this manageable group size allows the trainers to give each learner sufficient time and attention, while at the same time ensuring that the young people can develop crucial team-working skills.

The programmes aim to enhance the personal and social development and employability of the learners, to build their character, to develop their learning capacity, to encourage a voluntary positive change in behaviour, to give them a sense of achievement and prepare them for the world of work. It does this by teaching them a range of personal and inter-personal skills to help change their attitudes and behaviour for the better.
